New Report Investigates Drive-by-Downloads

A whitepaper entitled ‘When Legitimate Sites Threaten Your Network’ is available from the ComputerWeekly website (registration required).
An introduction to the paper describes how cyber criminals are attracted by ‘drive-by’ delivery methods as stealthy forms of attack that trick users into clicking onto pages loaded with malware.
Using these methods organized gangs can effectively and efficiently infect a user’s PC with viruses, spyware, Trojans, bots, rootkits and fake software.
According to the authors the paper analyzes:
- How the attacks work and the techniques used to lure targets to rigged Web sites.
- The sophisticated exploit kits and the applications they target.
- The complicated maze of Web redirects, and the payloads used to conduct identity theft and computer takeover attacks.
- How in a two step attack the malicious program is automatically downloaded to your computer without your consent or knowledge.
- What you can do top protect your organisation.
Visit the ComputerWeekly site to download the whitepaper.
